"Good intro to blockchain technology and definition of terms. Super helpful to navigate the hype in the media."
This course covers the basics of blockchain technology by demystifying common terms and clearing up myths and misconceptions, describing blockchain's basic features in a simple way, and outlining how these combine to create value. It then adopts a near-term view to outline how blockchain is being applied today to augment existing processes (e.g. in supply chain applications), before taking a longer-term view to discuss how blockchain could enable fundamentally new ways of organizing, governing, and creating and capturing value.
This course dives into what blockchain means for CPAs and for the profession more broadly. It covers two common use cases of blockchain: supply chain and crypto assets, and unpacks these from a risk perspective to show what remains consistent and what changes when blockchain is introduced. It concludes with an interactive discussion of how blockchain could change the accounting profession in the longer term, addressing questions such as: What industries will blockchain affect and when? What does this mean for CPAs, and what can we do to prepare for this?
